Ending An Interview With Law Enforcement

Denver Criminal Attorney Rob Werking reminds everyone that they have a United States and Colorado Constitutional right not to speak with law enforcement.  However, if you initially agree to speak with the police, you may terminate the interview or interrogation at any point in time.  The only bulletproof manner in which to stop the interview is simply to tell law enforcement that you want to speak with an attorney. On the other hand, a Mr. Sean Sykes, Jr. ended his police interrogation in another manner.  Rather than asking for an attorney, Mr. Sykes was especially gaseous – perhaps the nerves of being interviewed by the police.  During the course of the interview, Mr. Sykes loudly passed gas to the point the police detective decided to end the interrogation. http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article183176961.html Passing gas is probably not your best choice to end an interview even if such comedy makes the national news.
